Söderenergi renews contract with Green Cargo
Green Cargo’s agreement with Söderenergi covering the transportation of biofuel from fuel suppliers across Sweden to the company’s fuel terminal in Nykvarn dates back to 2009, and is now being renewed for a further three years.
Under the existing logistics contract between Söderenergi and Green Cargo, valid until summer 2019, Söderenergi has chosen to exercise its option to extend for the transportation of biofuel for three additional years. The extension applies from August 2019 until 2022 and encompasses a volume of around 100,000 tonnes of biofuel per year.
“Rail freight in combination with the favorable fuel storage facilities at the Nykvarn terminal will continue to be cornerstones of Söderenergi’s fuel logistics. We are choosing to extend the partnership with Green Cargo, which has provided stable transportation and developed the rail system on an ongoing basis,” says Olle Ankarling, Logistics Manager at Söderenergi.
Since the very start, Green Cargo has conducted extremely punctual and highly reliable block train services for Söderenergi.
“Together with Söderenergi, we have worked continuously with gradual adaptation and have developed the system’s scope. The latest change entailed maximizing trainload volumes by using larger containers that better meet the capacity needs. We are very pleased and proud that Söderenergi has chosen to extend that agreement, one year before the existing agreement expires, and we look forward to continuing our close partnership,” says Johan Lorensson, Sales Executive at Green Cargo.
Söderenergi is the fourth largest district heating producer and has one of Sweden’s largest biofueled CHP plants. Slightly more than 99% of the fuel used is recycled and renewable. It transforms sorted waste into energy in the form of heat and electricity, with good environmental performance. This is smart use of resources and a leading environmental service. The company produces district heating for some 300,000 people, offices, and industries in the southern part of Greater Stockholm. Its production of electricity is equivalent to the household electricity consumption of 100,000 homes. For more information, go to www.soderenergi.se
