A technological shift is afoot for wagons and load carriers for specialized freight transport for the SSAB stretches between Luleå and Borlänge and Borlänge and Oxelösund. A total of 40 new wagons have been leased from the wagon provider Wascosa. The wagons are equipped with disc brakes that allow for quieter trains, greater flexibility of wagon usage and increased safety.
The most efficient way to reduce climate impact from transportation is to transfer freight from the road network to the railways. In October, Mellanskog and Green Cargo entered a new partnership agreement under which woodchips will now be transported by rail instead of by road. This will result in safe, more efficient and more environmentally friendly shipments.
Every year, via its Italy Direct route, Green Cargo transports around 200 large wagons of wine from Italy and 300 smaller wagons of wine from Malmö to Stockholm in collaboration with Scanlog, Scandinavian Logistics Partners AB.
