AGA Gas and Green Cargo extend partnership agreement with rail freight to Norway

In August, AGA Gas and Green Cargo further extended their partnership agreement with shipments from Sweden to Norway. Health, safety and the environment are prioritized areas for both AGA Gas and Green Cargo, and through their continued partnership, cargo will be transported efficiently and safely, with an annual reduction of 150,000 kg of carbon dioxide.

The freight being transported is carbon dioxide, which is used in greenhouses, the food industry, breweries and for cleaning water conduits. It is a byproduct from various production processes.

Transportation has switched from road to rail. This not only provides advantages such as a significantly reduce climate impact, but also safer, more stable and more efficient deliveries in Green Cargo’s network.

AGA Gas will deliver carbon dioxide by rail to customers in Norway, for collection at the Rolvsøy terminal. The wagons are specially designed for this type of transportation and are maintained by AGA Gas. Several wagons leave each week from Norrköping to Rolvsøy, outside Sarpsborg.

“We have a shared interest with Green Cargo when it comes to finding environmentally advantageous and efficient solutions for our transportation,” says Anders Eriksson, Distribution Manager at AGA Gas AB. “The expanded partnership agreement also provides advantages in health and safety as well as an increased transportation capacity, which is very pleasing.”

Together with AGA Gas and Bane NOR, Green Cargo has carried out thorough planning and risk analysis for transporting and handling the cargo at the terminal in Rolvsøy. Green Cargo is also managing customs clearance to Norway and systems monitoring the shipments. Through customer care, confidence and proactivity, Green Cargo creates favorable conditions for a long-term partnership.

“We’re creating value for AGA Gas in the form of enhanced transportation and environmental performance through our rail solutions. Our partnership goes back several years and includes argon and carbon dioxide transportation in Sweden and shipments to Denmark. We’re proud to be able to offer sustainable transportation solutions to Norway as well, and look forward to expanding our transportation services in the future to other sites in Norway,” says Björn Thunqvist, Strategic Sales Executive at Green Cargo.

Rail is the most climate-smart transportation method and strengthens Scandinavian enterprise. Green Cargo freight trains carry both raw materials and processed products to industries in different parts of Scandinavia and the continent all hours of the day. Finished products are often shipped to consumers via rail as well, in a sustainable logistics system.
